Manufactured by Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England, this highly ornate antique silverplate biscuit server is engraved with"

Presented to Mr. F. Fox

From the Reporters of The Age

On his appointment as Chief of Staff

Feb. 1901

It is possible that Mr F. Fox is Sir Frank Ignatius Fox (1874-1960), a notable journalist and author who wrote and published "Bushman and Buccaneer", a memoir of Harry "the Breaker" Morant.  That said, I cannot find a record Sir Frank Fox being appointed Chief of Staff for The Age.

The base is marked twice with the W & H in an ensign logo (indicating manufacture between 1860 to 1900), Walker and Hall, Sheffield , England. Next to the name is stamped 52 and the Epsilon symbol.  Below it is marked 12198 1/2.

The server is very intricate with internal covers the fold up and slot down the centre to expose the contents.

130 x 145 x 250mm tall when closed.
